The color orange
Is like the sun.
If it's out,
Then it's fun.
There are orange trees,
Ants busy as bees,
Beautiful orange flowers bloom.
They're quite pretty, I assume.
One summer night In early June, A frog looked upward At the moon. He said, "Ill jump Right on that thing Without the use Of jet or spring." He counted three, Then jumped quite high And hit the moon In late July.
NIGHT By Arnold Lobel
Two toads sat Dozing on a rock. Said one, "I think We need a clock." The other said, "I do agree. A clock for you And one for me. Then when we wake And there's no light... We'll always know That it is night."
THERE WAS A FROG By Arnold Lobel
There was a frog Who had a car. He drove it fast. He drove it far. He traveled Fifty days and nights And never Looked at traffic lights. "I learned to drive Quite easily, But I never learned To stop," said he.
MADE FOR TOADS By Arnold Lobel
A sunny day Is made for toads To play and leap Down dusty roads A rainy day is made for frogs To swim in swamps And under logs. In weather gray Or weather bright, For some, the day Will be just right.
BRIGHT GREEN FROG By Arnold Lobel
A bright green frog With slippery skin Played waltzes On a violin. But while he played With skill and grace, He wore a frown Upon his face. "I fiddle well." He sighed. "And yet.... I'd rather play The clarinet."
The Frogs and Toads All Sang By Arnold Lobel
"We're going to have a party," The frogs and toads all sang. "We've got lemonade with ice cubes And paper lamps to hang." The ladies wore long dresses, And the gentlemen wore pants. The orchestra was ready. So they all began to dance. They danced in the meadow. They dance in the street They danced in the lemonade Just to cool their feet.

THE DUCK By Joan Horton
Chickens peep, canaries sing, Robins chirp, "It's spring, it's spring." Warblers warble, pigeons coo, Roosterscock-a-doodle-do. Sparrows twitter, blue jays squawk, Mynah birds and parrots talk. Little ducks go quack, quack, quack, But I can't seems to get the knack. Perhaps I'd have a lot more luck If I were not a rubber duck.

SPRING by Patricia Thomas
I guess no one will mind if a few puddles fine for splashing- are left behind... along with drops that drip on your nose when you close your umbrella... plip... plunk... plop... SPRING IS DONE IN PASTEL CHALK.

Rain
Beautiful Rain
SPRING by Patricia Thomas SOMETIMES a day is clouded pussy willow gray and streaked with blue silver rains- washing streets and windowpanes and rooftops.... water crops of umbrellas that grow on sidewalks below..... until by and by, a rainbow SENDS ALL THE COLORS arching across the sky.

Spring Cherry Blossoms
SPRING By Patricia Thomas
SUDDENLY, before you can blink.... there are blossoms everywhere..... Peach and white and pink; fluffy, puff, pillowy, billowy, spun-sugar, cotton-candy blossoms; blossoms; blossoms.

SPRING By Patricia Thomas
Nature draws SPRING in pastel chalk, dotting crocuses along a walk, forsythia against a wall...... drawing them all in warm as sunshine color; gentle baby colors; blurry, furry, baby-chick, baby-duck colors..... fresh green fuzzy, baby leaf, baby-fern colors...... soft colors, showing slowly, perhaps so the surprise of color in a black-white world won't hurt your eyes. A tulip here, a hyacinth there. Blue violets push the snow aside. Time to wake up, daffodils decide- and in a dash of yellow, off they dance, along a path...... beside a fence.
